General: Walter Oppici gave us a reminder that we need to pump our septic systems
every 2-4 years. There was discussion of tall weeds on Bob’s Lake and will
investigate further.
Water testing: In the absence of Mimi and Paul, Pauline read out the communique
they had posted on the website which reports that the second water testing results in
late summer 2022 show the phosphorus levels have returned to safe levels. The
communique goes on to encourage all cottagers to continue following best practices
such as maintaining septic tanks, not using fertilizers, using phosphate-free cleaning
products, picking up after pets, conserving water, and leaving their shoreline natural.
`It is imperative to follow these environmentally sound water quality practices, since high phosphorus levels may lead to algal blooms which can pose a risk to human and
animal health`. Next testing in 2024.
