Reminder: Let’s Keep Our Lakes Healthy!

June 26, 2023 Off By admin

Water testing of our lakes takes place every two years. Since this was last done in 2022,
we will not be testing our lakes this year. The BBR Association executive encourages
our cottagers to continue to follow the best practices to manage total phosphorus
levels outlined under the environment menu in the 2022 summer communiqué. These
include maintaining your septic tank, not using fertilizers, using phosphate-free
products, picking up after your pets, conserving water, and leaving your shoreline
natural. It is imperative to follow these environmentally sound water quality practices,
since high phosphorus levels may lead to algal blooms which can pose a risk to human
and animal health.
